SHINTUYA
History
Shintuya is a native community of the Harakbut people located in the Manu province of Peru, in the Madre de Dios region. The community was founded in 1950 and has a long history connected to the Harakbut people, their territory, traditions, and relationship with the Amazon rainforest. Today, Shintuya remains an important cultural community in the Alto Madre de Dios area and continues to preserve its Indigenous identity and traditions.

This makes the area an important destination for experiencing Amazonian nature while learning about Indigenous conservation and territorial traditions.

Shintuya does not have traditional beaches, but the rivers and natural pools of the Amazon provide opportunities to enjoy the water in a completely different environment. The area around the Shintuya waterfall includes a natural pool where visitors can swim and relax surrounded by rainforest.
